Story Time with Miss Hickory

Once I settled into the Hickory cabin, Emma and Shad were begging for a story. Sweet things, they were so tickled to show me their favorite book. We had a lovely time reading until bedtime. Hitty Isabelle stopped by to take a Hickory family photo for us and has very kindly invited me up to the Vicarage for pancakes in the morning. Who could turn down pancakes?




Pancakes................... Dear Friends, I had a restful evening in my cozy cabin and awoke to the smell of maple syrup wafting over from the Vicarage kitchen. Hitty Isabelle and all the girls greeted me warmly and we shared a delicious breakfast. There's nothing like a good cup of coffee in the morning! Tina, Hitty Isabelle sends very special greetings to her carve mama.

In which I arrive in Tulsa

Dear Friends, You have all been so kind in asking after my welfare that I wanted to write and let you know I have safely arrived in Tulsa. There was a slight delay when the mailman tried to deliver me before Kathleen was home from work. I had to spend an extra night at the postal station. Kathleen's DH very kindly offered to collect me today (or as he put it-meet me at the stagecoach). I must say after the kind of attentions of Sheriff Wally and now a man of the cloth any doll might have her head turned. Hitty Isabelle and I greeted one another as only carve sisters could and I've brought greetings to the Hickory Tots from Cousin Ida. The tots can barely contain themselves with wanting to hear all the stories of Hetty's escapades. I think they admire her a bit, but prefer to experience her from afar. The tots have been so sweet and have prepared the hickory cabin for my guest quarters. I will keep this note short as I can hear their giggles now. I think they are waiting for a bedtime story. (I've decided it best not to tell any Hetty stories tonight. I don't want the little dears to have nightmares! Kathleen said she'll help me send some pictures this weekend. Until then, sleep tight! Greetings from Tulsa

Dear Friends, Oh my, you should see how busy Hickory Emma and Shad have been preparing for my visit. They are such dears. Kathleen helped them take pictures of their hard work so they could so me. They are so proud to be playing host and hostess. They've been using the Hickory cabin as a play room and first on the agenda was to clear away the toys and games. The whole place had a good dusting and little Emma polished the lantern to a shine. Isn't it the coziest little guest room you've ever seen? I feel so at home here.

Walks in the field with Hitty's, new clothes and fond farewells

With Hetty securely incarcerated the Hittys decide to take Miss Traveler on a walk in the field. While on their nature
trek they come upon some GIANT mushrooms!!! It is like a play ground for Hittys!!!










Look Miss Traveler...we could have picnic under here!! Or just hide from you know who. What fun we are having out here in the pasture.












Oh look!! MIss Traveler looks like the Cheshuire cat in the Alice books!! She even has a great smile.
hmmm, are these toad stools or mushrooms?? We need to go look this up.









Remember that Miss Traveler and the Hittys were selecting fabric to make a frock? Something to go with that
new orange poke bonnet. The Hittys (and their person) fashioned a new dress that goes nicely with the new bonnet.
Miss Traveler wanted her bonnet to be a bit fancy so Hitty Elise decorated the bonet with ribbon ruching . We think
she looks quite fetching in orange!











Miss Traveler sits down and tells the HIttys goodbye. They tell her how they have enjoyed her visit and wish she could stay even
longer. Miss Travler is very polite and does not tell them her nerves could not take much longer at this place!!!







Cousin Ida hugs Miss Traveler and thanks her for her patience with "you know who". They exchange a few kind wordswith one another.










Sherrif Wally and Ida visit one last time with Miss Traveler. Wall explains that Hetty will be saying goodbye and that by golly
it will be a VERY pleasant good bye!...or ELSE!







Sheriff Wally supervises the farewell . Does Hetty look repentent???




Nope I don't think so either!!!





With Ida looking on and Wally lurking in the background Hetty shakes Miss Travelers hand and wishes her a good journey.
She offers to give her some last minute tips on Chicken hunting but Ida steps in and squashes that!! Hetty also was admiring
new outfit and suggested that a nice orange scabbord to hold a good sized machete would be quite striking with it.




Sigh.....as you can see Hetty has NOT seen the errors of her ways.

Good bye MIss Traveler you will be missed by all the Hittys and Ida and......Wally!!!

The Hittys and Miss Hickory admire the chickens...the new ones from Kathie are fitting right in





Miss Hickory gets very friendly with some chickens. Cousin Ida is coaching her on how to pet them
and make friends. Looks like it is going very well.











OH no, what is SHE up to now?? Is that a bow and arrow? Surely she is not looking for those little chickens??
Oh Hetty really is horrid!!!!






Run, girls RUN!!! See the arrows littering the ground??? Lucky for us Hetty is not a very good shot. But she is
sure trying. The Hittys gather the chickens and run for their lives. Cousin Ida is yelling at Hetty to stop!!! But
does Hetty pay any attention to her??? NOPE!!! Hetty is really truly horrid!!! Miss Traveling Hickory is
running for safety but she has an idea!! What could it be?? Will it help???






Miss Hickory has run for the Sheriff!! Sheriff Wally has responded and is going to put a stop to this foolishness!!!
Look how he is protecting our little traveler....she sure is standing close to the tall and handsome sheriff.





Sheriff Wally takes Hetty into custody after disarming her. Hmmm, our little traveler is sure staying close
to Wally. Could this be the start of something sweet??? Wally is the strong silent type but who knows....
the traveler is a cutie!!! Stay tuned!!!

Miss Hickory gets a new hat

Raining today so the Hittys decide to play on the sewing desk. They love hats and make one for Miss Hickory...IT is not finished
needs some decorations and maybe she needs a new frock??




The Hittys drag out some fabric that they believe will suit MH. She gets very excited about some yellow/orange
that she thinks will match her new (unfinished) poke bonnet. The Hittys are pleased and now must find
their person and put her to work!!! But where is Hetty??? Don't relax MH and Hittys....she is out there.....
LURKING!!!

Hetty Starts

Hetty decides to show MH her beloved Big Game/ Raiders of the Lost Ark Safari costume. She is sure that MH will
be terribly impressed!! She even adds her favorite rifle!





Hetty persuades MH to join her on Crow for a little jaunt. What does Hetty have in mind??? Is MH Safe???? Does
MH look a bit nervous to you??!!





Crow learns that Hetty intends to hunt Bunnies while he flys over the hay field. Crow does not find this sporting
behavior and he dumps both Hetty and poor little Miss Hickory (who of course had no part in this evil plan and
was just along for a ride!). Crow leaves in a huff never to return!!






The Hittys hear the commotion and hurry out to see what has happened. They immediately tend Miss Hickory and
help her to her feet. She seems shakey and they are very gentle with her. (please note that Hetty is left lying in a
heap....which is just what she deserves!).




The Hittys welcome MH into their little shelf home. They make her comfy in the big chair and offer
tea and cake. She is safe for now.....but what will tomorrow bring??!!! Hetty is down but not out!

Miss Hickory arrives in Missouri

With Hetty exhorting them to work HARDER..the Hittys open the box!!









Unhappy with their efforts, Hetty enlists Crow to scare them into harder work!!
