Re: Miss Hickory's visit to Nappanee

Hello to all----I arrived safely in Nappanee, IN, on Wednesday, November 23, just in time for Thanksgiving. I was pretty tired from my travels.

The Hittys at Azure Estates were so happy to meet me. They did indeed make me feel welcome, and set me to work as soon as I felt rested.

I am staying with Deedee's dolls at present, and when this visit is done, I will stay with Mary Ann's dolls. What a nifty little set-up!

Here are a few pictures of what has been happening so far:

Lil Tot and I are being escorted up the stairs to where we will sleep.

Hitty Tina is the delegated hostess for my visit. We are being shown where we will sleep.

Hitty Tina gets aquainted with Lil Tot and myself. I am wearing a borrowed frock for the Thanksgiving dinner.

Hitty Tina assigns cooking chores for the day. She is very efficient!

Lady Annette and I work well together.

The turkey is coming along nicely. The aroma is overwhelming from this kitchen!

Lil Tot gets settled in. She is not as nervous about our visit as she was when traveling.

We gather to thank God for our blessings. Doll friends and doll food are two of them!

An Azure Estates tradition----Thanksgiving portrait of family and visitors

What a lovely meal we had as well as good fellowship. The weather was lovely. I am writing this on Sunday, November 27, and snow is expected by the end of the evening. We have had a lazy few days, which is just what I needed after my break-neck travels these past many weeks. I will write more as the week unfolds.....Keep warm and blessed!

Miss Hickory - Baking and a Big Surprise

Today is my last day with Hitty Hannah and the Westview Hittys. I am saddened at the thought of leaving this lovely family of Hittys, but I know I will meet another group of adventurous Hittys at my next destination.

Everyone is busy preparing for something special. I'm sure it has to do with Thanksgiving.

Becassine has begun baking her delicious pies. The pumpkin and apple pies are cooling in the pie chest. I squealed with joy when she announced "Acorn Pies" were next on her list.

I think she made these pies with me in mind.

One of these yummy pies is going with me!

LATER IN THE DAY:
I decided to say my "good byes" tonight verses tomorrow morning. There are many Hittys to chat, hug and giggle with. Into the sitting room I went.
"SURPRISE!!!!," all the Hittys shouted in unison. It was a party and I was the guest of honor.

Boy, oh boy was I surprised.
There was PIZZA...

...and tasty treats from Becassine's kitchen.

We took lots of photos. I couldn't believe how well behaved the little ones were. They even stayed still long enough for this snap shot.

I met some of Hitty Hannah's neighbors, Hitty Grace, Hitty Phoebe...

...Hitty Amanda

...Hitty Elizabeth and Hitty Ann.

I will miss this Hitty bunch. Maybe we'll see each other again on another adventure.

"Hitty Hannah, thank you for welcoming me into your home."

Miss Hickory----Game Night

While the other Hittys played "Candy Land", Hitty Montana and I enjoyed several games of "Don't Spill the Beans".

I can't believe it's almost time for me to leave. It feels like I just arrived.

Tea Time

Hitty Hannah brewed a scrumptious batch of rose petal tea.

The roses were from her summer garden. She dried the petals and was waiting for a SPECIAL occasion to use them. I am honored she chose to share her tea with me. Becassine and Cook lovingly made all the yummy pastries.

Everything was DELICIOUS!

This was the perfect time to plan various activities, before my departure.

Bump-Bump to Pennsylvania

My postal journey was as to be expected.

BUMP! BUMP! Toss. THUMP!
Fortunately, I was cushioned with loads of padding.

My secret fear of being lost vanished when my box was delivered to
the Westview Hittys.
Hitty Hannah was the first to greet me.
Her bright smile subsided the butterflies dancing in my stomach,
assuring me I would be treated as a family member.
...or, should I be frighten by that thought?

No! I'm positive this is a FUN and LOVING Hitty bunch.

I wonder what adventures will be had during my stay.
But first...

...a comfy bed to rest my head.

Attending the Doll Club

Dear Friends,

Last evening I ws invited to attend the local doll club with my hostess. The meetings are held in the Historical Nathaniel Dean House. My hostess was hoping to get a photo of me with a very old beautiful dollhouse that is on display. However, it had been covered for the evening, so that was a disappointment. However, the restored old farm house held it's share of charm. If you would like to read more about this delightful home, take a peek here...http://www.bloominggrovehistory.org/deanhouseindex.php

As the rooms are rather small, and our group fills up the room, it was hard to maneuver around so here are just a few of the highlights. The program for the evening was given by one of the members on "My Twinn" dolls.

Wowsers, she had quite a collection and I learned a lot about their beginnings. Not much like my beginning...I am a rather simple soul, but my charm is every bit as engaging! They are quite large dolls...my hostess has one My Twinn, adopted from Goodwill...That will be all she ever has. Those dollies are too big.

Some ladies brought "show and tell" and since it was just the day after Halloween, that seemed to be the theme. And NO! I am not in costume. This is my totally lovely REAL self.

Ahhhh...door prizes...but we didn't win any....Better luck next time.

I will soon be getting packed up to make my way to Marilyn. What a "ride" this has been. New places, new friends, new adventures...Thanks everyone!!
Sincerely
